Rock & Roll Half-Marathon, are you crazy?
It was a year ago this weekend that Kristan completed the Rock & Roll Half Marathon in Arizona. She was originally coming out to support me in doing my first full marathon, but she soon found herself at the starting line for her first Half-Marathon. When my sister-in-law couldn't run due to an injury, Kristan filled in like a champ.
She wasn't crazy about running and had not trained at all for this unexpected event. Kristan and my brother used her unique "Walk/Jog" technique to bring her across the finish line in just over three hours.

Afterwards we went to the famous Tee Pee Mexican Restaurant where we just by chance recieved a free lunch. When it was all over, this beauty slept like a baby.
This is another example of how adventurous and electrifying this beautiful woman was. When she saw the opportunity to do something extraordinary, she never passed it up. This is something we can all use a little more of in our lives, a chance to break out of the ordinary and do something amazing.

Poem for Kristan
Kristan
she was here in my life
her gentle soul
i sat in her living room
the place where she lived
and all around i felt peace in
her spirit
she laughed, she loved, she gave without wanting to get anything back.
that was Kristan,
her spirit gave and gives me
something to look forward too.
her gentle ways, make me see everthing must change
except the soul
how wondrous your gathering,
how perfect in peace you are now
in the arms of the angels i find you kristan,
your joyous heart made a warm light in my life...
in your living room i found the peace of your heart...
you are just perfect ...god's smiling one..
your laughter still beckons to my heart...
you have found peace and
delight in Christ and
i felt your warm embrace today....
Your sister, neighbor and friend in Christ,
Terrie

Mexico Birthday Memories
"My name is Eve and I went to Mission Bay High School with Kristan. We were best of friends and our birthdays were only a day a part. I was 3.19 and she was 3.20. I think we spent our 16th birthdays in Mexico (maybe the 17th bday?). My mom and her boyfriend drove us to Mexico - La Fonda and we ate lobster and drank Margaritas. We had such a good time. I stayed with her at her folks house as well and it was always a treat. She made this really good fudge and I always ate it up. To me she was always the beauty. She was so funny and I remember she hated her ears...lol. I guess we can't all be perfect:-) We lost touch and then I ran into her on the street of all places at our High School reunion. She was laughing so hard that my date and I were thinking wow they must be having a great time. I turned around and it was her. We ended up going out to dinner that night and we laughed all night long. We exchanged numbers, but I lost her number along with my old high school picture she gave me that night. After awhile I thought we just fell out of touch until I got the Facebook request over the holiday. I so sad that missed her."
